11:30:   How You Lead Is Your Brand
Helping Advisors Build Awareness Around Branding, Marketing & Advertising

Justin Foster, Co-Founder of Root and River

1 CPA CE  (Practice Management - does not qualify for CFP CE)

You think about your role, the clients you serve and the people you love, your work, the numbers, your own performance as a leader. But do you think about your personal brand? Your personal brand as a human and leader is a thread that runs through all aspects of your life - your relationships, your career, your community. In this talk specifically designed for professional services leaders, brand strategist and speaker Justin Foster shares his insights on the five branding practices that are hallmarks of a contemporary leader. Some of these you might already do - and some will be surprising. Either way, you will get a fresh perspective on your personal brand - and how much influence you have on both.

Key takeaways:

  • Discuss the global trends that created our current world
  • Learn the new definition of a brand and how it informs how you are perceived by others
  • Learn how personal missions (not mission statements) drive brands
  • Self-assessment on 5 brand practices of a contemporary leader
  • Gain new ideas for embracing your personal brand as a leader

Justin Foster believes when you connect to your soul, everything changes. He is the co-founder of the intrinsic branding firm Root + River as well as a speaker, author, mentor and poet.  Along a journey that started on a cattle ranch in eastern Oregon to all 50 states and 6 countries, Justin has delivered thousands of thought-provoking, soul-stirring keynotes, workshops and retreats in every sector and industry. His talks cover branding, culture, social shifts, leadership and more – but they all contain a similar message: unleashing the power of being human and supporting leaders who want to eliminate all that is average and stale in their organizations.

Jim Murphy, CFP®, CAIA®

Innovative Porfolios, LLC & Sheaff Brock Investment Advisors, LLC

1 CFP, CPA, CIMA CE

Financial Planning involves a comprehensive view of a client’s life, circumstances, and future goals. Identifying potential planning issues is crucial in the financial planning process and key to the overall success of the client’s future, not to mention the success of the client/Advisor relationship. This presentation focuses on helping investment advisors identify financial planning challenges within investment portfolios and offering potential solutions through option-based strategies. Three common financial planning issues are discussed (concentrated position, idle portfolio of low cost basis stocks and inadequate portfolio diversification and income derivation, and tax harvesting tactics) followed by details of how appropriately-applied option strategies can be effective tools in portfolio management and financial planning.

Jim Murphy has over 25 years of Financial Services Industry experience with an emphasis on wealth management and portfolio consulting for high net worth investors and advisors.  Jim is currently the Director for Sheaff Brock Investment Advisory, Sheaff Brock Institutional Group, and Innovative Portfolios.
