FPA Helps Launch Pro Bono Financial Planning Program

The Financial Planning Association is one of six financial service organizations that launched a national pro bono program on January 15 as part of its broader outreach in the public-service arena. As a participating member of the Project for Financial Independence, FPA is joining the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, the Society of Financial Service Professionals, and the National Endowment for Financial Education, which organized the initial effort. Members of the participating organizations will offer pro bono financial guidance to clients of three national charitable organizations: Habitat for Humanity, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and Volunteers of America. Eligibility criteria for recipients include income status, enlisted military personnel, disaster victims, and those who are struggling with significant indebtedness. Initially, three FPA chapters will pilot this project--FPA-San Francisco, FPA-NE Ohio and FPA-Long Island. Other FPA chapters will have the opportunity to participate as the project continues to expand. Visit www.consultaplanner.org for information, resources and guidelines regarding pro bono service.

Help your association while you shop your favorite online retailers!

Whether it's a special gift, office supplies, or your next dream vacation... Anytime you've got an urge to shop online, visit our Member Mall where you'll find the most popular stores on the web. For every dollar spent, a portion of the proceeds will be returned to FPA of Houston - many of the stores will have the percentage or amount posted in red by their name. We've arranged the stores by categories to help you.
