Be on the Cutting Edge of LTC Planning with Phyllis Shelton in Dallas on November 03!
Phyllis Shelton is conducting an all-out effort to fight what she sees as the greatest risk to American families and jobs - the exploding Medicaid program – with private long-term care insurance. She is conducting a major national and local media outreach around a seven city tour to provide training on LTCI worksite and combo products, the newest and fastest growing part of the long-term care insurance market. If you want to be on the cutting edge with long-term care planning, this is the conference to attend this year.
Her national press release highlights that because of the major expansion to Medicaid that is happening with the health care reform act, she is calling this the “2010 Family and Jobs Rescue Tour” and inviting media to cover the event and interview the producers who attend. We agree with her that NOW is the time to stand together and educate Americans that private long-term care insurance is a much better solution than fostering the entitlement mentality that leads to Medicaid. Here's an example of the impact in our state so far:
Texas has a 10.2% budget shortfall for FY2011 and has reduced higher education funding by $73 million in addition to cutting the number of children in a child care subsidy program by about 4,000 and increased waiting lists for those slots still available. (Center on Budget & Policy Priorities, 7/15 & 8/4/10)
By positioning long-term care insurance as the payer of first resort and Medicaid as the payer of last resort, the burden shifts away from the state. The Long-Term Care Partnership that allows asset protection equal to LTC insurance benefits paid out when one applies for Medicaid makes this especially possible. This is your chance to learn more about this exciting program now from Phyllis Shelton, who is also a Partnership training consultant to the industry and to certain states.
Here’s her message to FPA members:
The solution that I see is to make sure that each client understands the complete array of options to plan for long-term care and the tax incentives for each: individual, business owners and their employees, and especially the new combination life and annuity LTCI products that allow tax-free distributions of gain if used for qualified long-term care services. This will allow private-pay dollars to take the burden off the states as soon as we can, 46 of which have budget shortfalls for FY 2011.
She feels so strongly about this outreach that she is offering FPA members a $15 off discount off the training fee – which is only $199 before September 15th ($249 after). Register by September 15th and receive a FREE PRESS KIT which contains my new consumer book "The ABC's of Long-Term Care Insurance" and seven articles that you can use in your community to raise awareness and generate new clients! All attendees will receive a generic combo presentation, a 100+ page workbook and her new worksite book. And don’t worry – she will explain how the CLASS Act can be instrumental in helping you attract new clients as consumers have questions about what the federal government is doing with long-term care coverage. See her national press release here if you missed it:
